It is our great honor and pleasure to announce the 3rd International Congress of Hospital Psychiatry, entitled “Contemporary Challenges and Perspectives in Hospital Psychiatry – A Multidisciplinary Approach to Diagnosis and Therapy”, which will be held on March 3–4, 2026, at the Mona Plaza hotel in Belgrade. This event, organized by the Clinic for Mental Disorders “Dr Laza Lazarević” and the Association for Hospital Psychiatry, continues the tradition of bringing together mental health experts dedicated to the exchange of knowledge, experience, and the latest scientific achievements.
We are especially delighted that, alongside eminent lecturers from across our country and the region, distinguished members of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) will also join us, bringing invaluable expertise that will significantly enrich the congress program.
Professor Andreas Reif, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University Clinical Center in Frankfurt and President of the ECNP, will talk about new therapeutic options in therapy-resistant depression. Professor David Baldwin, director of the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospital Southampton and Vice President of ECNP, will talk about gabapentinoids in psychiatric practice.
Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospital Milan and member of the ECNP Board of Directors professor Paolo Brambilla, will present on new biomarkers in psychiatry based on neuroimaging.
Professor Marin Jukić, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade; Senior Researcher at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and member of the ECNP Board of Directors, will speak about the personalization of the dose of antidepressants and antipsychotics.
Joining us from Belgium will be Livia de Picker, Professor at the University Psychiatric Hospital Duffel, University of Antwerp, member of the EPA Board and Co-Chair of the ECNP Immuno-Neuropsychiatry Network. Professor Livia de Picker will talk about immune-mediated depression.
The congress is conceived as a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences from everyday clinical practice, with the aim of highlighting contemporary challenges and directionsin the treatment and care of patients in hospital settings, as well as addressing systemic andorganizational issues that shape modern psychiatric practice. Plenary lectures, poster presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions willprovide opportunities to deepen understanding of the complexity of psychiatric treatment and tofoster further development of our profession.
